M E M O The Response 2/4/91
Let me start out Matt by saying I'm not mad at you, really. I
know you don't need any more group wrath, so I won't include any.
The problem with the resume is that I sent out close to 1000 of them last
year compared to your 50 or 60, and this year, the situation has to
change. So, the solution is for you to send out the resume you have,
and I'll revise our version to say that you are currently working on
fiction. This way, we haven't burned our bridges, and we can go back to
one resume if the situation changes.
I agree that we should consider writing in the future, but let's
face it. You and I have never been able to write together without Mike.
I suggest then that you two heal the rift that is between you. And
believe me Matt, from what I know of Mike, it's going to be awhile
before you can approach writing together. As you found out, nerves are
very sensitive right now. I also suggest that if the time comes, you have
a incredible, developed idea. I don't say this sarcastically, but I
think Mike will be more approachable in this case.
Anyway, I'm not sending out my statement after this month. I
haven't gotten one from you since November, so I assume you aren't
submitting anymore.
