Twenty two play submissions. 12 queries. A fair submission month. A lot

of fighting between me and mike, but hopefully that is over. I apologize

for my contribution to the rash of hurt feelings. So you can stop

basking in the heat, matt.

Congrats on the production. You're both winners, and A-okey dokey with

me.

Working on Stig, draft 3. Slow, but hopefully by the time you get this,

I will be done.

I think in all fairness to you Mike, I should bow out of collaborating

on the phone messages for now. Realistically, I got Stig, then some one

acts,  then  ideas for Collier Bros.  I probably should work  on  those

instead. It irks me to miss an opportunity, but I have to start doing

that.Update for February, 88

Kind of a slow month for submissions. As I was afraid of when we had

our big meeting over Xmas, we're only doing minimums. I think we may have

to up the ante as far as minimums. Also, we may have to quit counting

three one acts sent to a single theatre as three submissions, although

I'm guilty of that myself somewhat. But if we have a ten play minimum

a month, that's only about three submissions if we count plays sent in

triplicate. Since I'm running out of query addresses, I'm going to

start hitting the unsolicited markets to get bites on our work before

we send them shit. That may help reduce the number of submissions to

theatres that wouldn't touch our work with a ten foot pole. Then we

may have to split up the work because damned if I'm going to send out

a hundred queries a month when there's a five/month minimum.

It's never enough, but we sure as hell don't want to get caught

with a New York production and nothing left to look forward to. And we

will if we don't work now. Really. I'm not kidding.

Good luck on stigmata, matt. Via condidos.

As  you can see,  I have a hefty submission list this month WITHOUT

including those pussy multiple submissions.  Pay no heed Matt. This is

between  me and Rapunzle.  I can meet those woos quotas without  fucking

cheating. I ain't beatin the meat when it comes to submitting.

As  you have probably noticed,  I have included a list of theatres.

These are the official theatres to target for the new query  system. As

you  will  recall, I sent you both copies of queries. Send one (1) of

these with each resume,  numbering one (1);  in addition,  send a single

(1)  SASE  with each resume/query pair.  You can favor these  over  the

Canada addresses, Matt (they're cheaper!). If you don't  have  the

addresses  for any of these,  let me know.  Mike will probably want to

favor  the globe addresses over these, although these are a good list

when the globe runs out.

I  feel  sorry for you Matt for spending so much money that will be

burned in one afternoon. But I look forward to it anyway because, well,

it's not my fucking money. And my regrets to the woosmaster for the IRS

clamping down. Can't blame them, though. It's about time they got their

cut of all that money.update for april, 1988

I don't have much to say to you two GOONS this month.  Incorporating the

ark  into stig and cutting out submissions of our other one acts puts  a

clamp  on  my submissions. I'll have to wait until we (I) finish  stig.

Until then,  I think I'll have to make do with MIB and MURDER, my true

friends. And my truck.

By the way, Matt, thanks for the stig notes. Do good on the one acts. Do

good on the screenplay.

Another good month  for submissions.  We  now have a  Hollywood

production,  and there's no mystery how that came about.  I've sent out

probably close to 100 copies of murder in a year and one  half, and  I

think  that's the way to approach stig.  I do have a few addresses which

have requested stig, and hopefully they'll still look at it.  I do have

faith that stig will be produced,  but unfortunately it will be at least

another  two years before we see it on stage. I had  hoped the  query

system I developed would shorten that somewhat, but it doesn't seem to

be working  as  well as I had hoped.  I'm thinking we might  send  out

adverstisings for stig only now. Maybe that would do it.  Good luck on

the draft Mike, and happy birthday. You're a yankee doodle dandy.                        UPDATE FOR JULY, 1988

The usual month for submissions. Seem to be getting back real old

copies of Murder, MIB, etc.

     Good job on Stig, Mike.

With regards to the photo shoot,  I think the worst thing we can do

is begin to believe our own publicity. Also, I need the press release so

I can do my stuff in UT.

For you Matt, I consider us even after the brutalization I had to

endure from you during the photo shoot. I  was hurting pretty bad from

the car accident,  and I was attempting to salvage whatever was left of

my self esteem when you decided to put on the steel toed boots. I have

no idea how much all of this is going to cost me. But it is nice to know

that when my life turns in a split second to the worse I have  friends

that I can count on. Just remember that any indiscretions I've done in

the past, I will no longer feel guilty about. It's obvious that when you

forgive, you also don't forget, and I refuse to go on paying.

Thanks for the address, Mike.  I'm getting contest listings to you

ASAP.  I've   bought  THE PLAYWRIGHTS  COMPANION and  THE DRAMATISTS

SOURCEBOOK this year, so I'm not going to contribute anything  to  THE

DRAMATISTS BIBLE this year. I haven't gotten the third one yet, but I am

compiling  my  play addresses for STIG.  I'll get the addresses to Matt

when I've finished it.  I'm considering sending the COMPANION since it

doesn't seem to be much different from the BIBLE.

Good luck on the COLLIER play. Update for August, 88

Hmmm--thirty submissions--FULL LENGTH SUBMISSIONS. I was going to

hold off and not submit as much as you this month, mike, but I thought,

"Why should I feel sorry for that FUCK." I'm glad I was able to put

things into perspective.

I'm not sure yet that I'm going to hold off on December submissions.

With what has happened, it might be a good gesture to make it feel

like the group is still moving. It is still moving, Mike, and Thew

and I are behind you.

I'm noticing an odd trend. Our plays seem to be whipping on back

quicker. I attribute this to our growing respectibility. I've also

noticed that more theatres then ever are moving and going out of

business. Hmm.

As for the form to retrieve our lost play-souls, I'm working on it.

So far, it just sounds boorish.

How about this for a novel idea--enclose within our plays one of

those cards that always falls out of magazines. On it is advertisement

for our next play and humorous comments.

Matt, I liked you better as a dead library patron. You know that when

Mark dies in the gutter in his own vomit, you will have to keep

the Pitzer legacy alive.
